Caring For Carers

If you are a family carer, or a family member welcome. I am a counsellor experienced in recognising the issues that family carers (and their families) face as they go about the business of caring for their disabled loved one. From diagnosis to treatment, from pre school to school, respite, transitions, negotiation with the powers that be for particular services to Needs Assessment & Service Coordination.

I am able to identify the specific issues that affect carers, such as disempowerment vs empowerment, marginalisation, poverty, stigmatisation, all of which can impact on the spiritual, mental, physical and family/whanau wellbeing. Who cares for the carer? its got to be you, you’re the only one that knows what you need and when to take that first step. If you would like to talk to someone who has insight, experience, practical knowledge and compassion, all it takes is a phone call or a text!!

Some days are sunshine and some days are rain,
for some it is a privilege, for others a pain
but either way (when all is said and done)
you do your best for the sake of that one
special family member who needs you
so much who, without your loving care
would be so out of touch
