Work Place Issues

During the course of our working life, most of us will have a problem at work. Whether its an ever increasing (or decreasing) workload, a disagreement with a co-worker, rapid change, low or missed pays, we will always encounter something that has to be dealt with. Life is like that, unpredictable and challenging!

There may come a time when you will need the expertise of an EAP Counsellor, to help reconcile a serious issue that is affecting you at work.

If things aren’t going right for you at work. here are some signs to watch out for:

  • Whats happening?
    • Conflict at home,
    • Personal issues,
    • Co-worker conflict, Harassment?
    • Workplace Bullying Conflict from a Manager?
    • Thoughts/fears of retirement
    • Talk of layoffs, but no official statements have been made
    • The company is restructuring, your position is being removed
  • How long has it been going on? 6 months or longer?
  • How are you feeling? Angry & irritated, inadequate, jumpy?
  • Mental & Spiritual wellbeing depressed, low/no motivation, high anxiety, panic attacks?
  • How are you responding? Forgetful, detached, having trouble coping with changes, afraid?
  • Getting irritated with co workers? violence?

As an employee, you can ask your HR Department (or manager), for information about EAP Counselling, it is a confidential service and could be the best decision you make!

My job as an EAP (Employee Assistant Programme) counsellor is to help you resolve these issues to the best outcome for you. I will help you name the issue, talk through options with you, provide information, acknowledge your reality, provide practical help to resolve an issue, access specialist (other) support if required from the EAP organisation, and most of all provide a safe place for you to talk about what is happening.
