Cultural Supervision

The Cultural Supervision that I provide is intended to help you to work more sympathetically (congruently) and effectively with your Maori clients. It is also intended to help grow cultural sensitivity and awareness.

For Maori Practitioners it will be a source of support in all areas of their work, in whatever work environment they are in. A place also to discuss Maori Models of Practice and any issues particular to Maori culture and people.

You are welcome to let me know at our first meeting what your cultural supervision needs are, and many times I can gain this understanding just from talking to you. Everyone has different cultural supervision needs, some practitioners are Maori, some are non Maori, some are advanced in their cultural knowledge.

So what can be covered in cultural supervision?

Maori communication styles, Maori/NZ History, Treaty of Waitangi and the workplace, Identity issues, Maori Models of Practice, Colonisation and today, Decolonisation and why, (Your) Research and further Maori study, Literature, Manawahine/Manatane, Tautoko me Awhi, Korero i te reo Maori (pitopito korero), Tikanga (tenei rohe), And many other aspects.

You would bring the (particular) cultural needs that pertain to the work you do and where you are in your own cultural awareness or journey.
